Business Agility in Operations – Responding to Change using Lean Systems Thinking

February 16, 2021 By Anurag Shrivastava

James Dwan will be discussing the impact of Business Agility on the world of Continuous Improvement and the opportunity it presents; dual operating system-thinking to explore as well as exploit.

Techniques like Lean Manufacturing and Extended Lean Enterprise have traditionally been all too often focussed purely on driving down costs. The last 12 months have taught us much more is both possible and necessary. As organisations have seen their long-established channels disappear overnight, Business Agility has enabled them to rise to the challenge; whether restaurants and pubs delivering to your door or ballet classes delivering through Zoom!

James will explore how we can build on these accomplishments to weaponise our operational transformation efforts, with a stronger emphasis on outcomes over outputs:
– Big Dream: Purpose-driven organisation
– Business Model Canvas (current, ideal, future)
– Linkage to Strategy Map and Balanced Scorecard
– Personas and empathy maps
– Growth Mindset
– Using Lean Start-up Thinking to test assumptions and build confidence
– Applying Value Stream Mapping and the Theory of Constraints
– Kanban of Change to concentrate on the critical few
– Using Scrum and/or Kanban to accelerate execution
– OKRs, Feedback loops and leading indicators

Charge Up a Learning Team

February 12, 2021 By Anurag Shrivastava

If there is one thing teams have learned from the current crisis, it is that change is inevitable. The only way to stay happy and productive is adapting organically to a changing environment. This is what Team Learning is all about.
Team Learning unleashes the creative and constructive forces in a team. In this event you will experience how. We use small break-out groups to host multiple, highly interactive workshops. In these workshops, you will engage in practical exercises to find answers to the questions:
• Why should management and teams care about Team-Learning?
• How do I create an energized environment that fosters Team-Learning?
• What tools help my team(s) to start and continue in their Team-Learning journey?

Charge Up a Learning Organization

February 11, 2021 By Anurag Shrivastava

Charge Up a Learning Organization Agile20Reflect Festival

If there is one thing organizations have learned from the current crisis, it is that only the ones that adapt quickly survive and even grow. This is what Learning Organizations are all about, being engaged to adapt organically to a changing environment. Peter Senge (author and management thinker) wrote about this concept in his book “The Fifth Discipline”. The link of his ideas with Agile is clear because the Learning Organization is the last big addition to SAFe (the Scaled Agile Framework).
To become a Learning Organization, start acting as one and celebrate your successes. In this event you will experience how. In small break-out groups, we host multiple, highly interactive workshops. In these workshops, you will engage in practical exercises to find answers to the questions:
• Why should we care about becoming a Learning Organization?
• How do I create a Learning Organization?
• What tools help management team(s) to pave the road towards a Learning Organization?
