What are early career researchers working on?
We are putting out a call to practitioners, post-doctoral, and post-graduate students to produce a poster that summarises their current research work. See Call for Posters here.
Whilst not an academically recognised conference those submitting posters will benefit from networking opportunities and chances to practice presenting their work. See Academic Posters here.
Recommended reading from experienced academics
We are asking experienced academics to recommend seminal and/or key influential papers that would be useful for practitioners or early researchers to read. We are writing this request in the form of a user story; As a curious learner, I want 2 or 3 key papers to read, so that I understand how agile got to this point. See call for published research here.
We will collate and rank these papers, including how to access them and why the academics think they are useful texts. See Published Research here.
How do you access existing academic papers?
For practitioners, finding relevant academic works can be confusing and time-consuming.
We are putting together a simple guide to identify open-source and free-to-access journals and platforms that have agile research outputs. See open access research here.
Research and practice have always had a symbiotic relationship; research informs practice which in turn identifies key areas for research. Observer and observee learning constantly from each other to progress knowledge within the field. This need for understanding and knowledge has never been greater in a VUCA world where organisations are constantly challenged, where old paradigms of stability, repeatability, and known states have been superseded by complexity and constant change.
As we reflect on twenty years of agile, from its beginnings in software development through to organisational agility, it’s easy to see that much has changed; both in our understanding and the environments in which we operate. The Festival’s Academic Research Circle has brought together a range of academics and practitioners to showcase and curate a variety of resources and events.
