Arie van Bennekum
Arie van Bennekum Agile20Reflect Festival PatronArie is a pragmatic who embeds his pragmatism in structure, discipline & common sense from his early days in the health care and the military forces up to where he is today. This eventually led to being one of the authors of the Agile Manifesto. Over the years Arie has become an expert on Agile transformations and Business Agility. Arie is working for Wemanity (www.wemanity.com) these days as thought leader and within Wemanity responsible for international transformations (across the globe) and works with an international team to get this done. Next to this work in Agile and Agile transformations Arie lectured at the Rotterdam University (20 years), Amsterdam (7 years) and Utrecht (3years) on topics such as Agile, (Agile) project management and Facilitation. His first book is about how to handle change and objectives as an individual (#YouAreTheArchitectOfYourOwnLife) and his second book on Business Agility (#ReachingForBusinessAgility) is coming out soon.

Johanna Rothman
Johanna Rothman Agile20Reflect Festival PatronJohanna Rothman, known as the “Pragmatic Manager,” offers frank advice for your tough problems. She helps leaders and teams do reasonable things that work. Equipped with that knowledge, they can then decide how to adapt their product development.

With her trademark practicality and humor, Johanna is the author of 18 books about many aspects of product development. Her most recent books are the Modern Management Made Easy series, From Chaos to Successful Distributed Agile Teams, and Create Your Successful Agile Project. Alistair Cockburn
Alistair Cockburn Agile20Reflect Festival PatronCo-author of the Agile Manifesto, created Heart of Agile. Creatively showing a humane way forward since the 1990s. Asked by IBM in 1991 to create a new and modern methodology for the IBM Consulting Group, Dr. Alistair Cockburn started studying how teams succeed. His team was one of the few that succeeded with commercial object-technology projects in the mid-1990s. His book Surviving Object-Oriented Projects showed how they did that.

Continuing his research, including being special advisor to the Norwegian Central Bank in the late 1990s, Dr. Cockburn co-organized the event that changed the software industry, the writing of the Manifesto for Agile Software Development (http://agilemanifesto.org), generally just called the Agile Manifesto. He received his Dr. Philos. from the University of Oslo in 2003, the same year he organized the first Agile Development Conference.

Esther Derby
Esther Derby Agile20Reflect Festival PatronAuthor of 7 Rules for Positive Productive Change: Micro Shifts, Macro Results. Esther draws on four decades of experience leading, observing, and living through organizational change. Esther started her career as a programmer, and quickly realized that while her job description referred to computers, her real work involved changing the way people worked, and supporting them though that process. In 1997, she founded esther derby associates, inc., and works with a broad array of clients from Fortune 500 companies to start ups. Her approach blends attention to humans and deep knowledge of complex adaptive systems.

In addition to consulting, Esther has an extensive background in designing and leading experiential learning. She teaches workshops both on-line and in-person around the world. Her workshops support leaders to explore how they can adapt the environment to amplify empowerment, engage in joint problem-solving, and evolve their systems towards better results.

Peter Merel
Peter Merel Agile20Reflect Festival PatronCEO XSCALE Alliance, Peter is Australia’s longest serving agilist and played a part in the formation of the Agile Alliance. Credited in Beck’s first XP book, Peter created the first agile training games and ran them at the first agile conference, XP2K. He led transformations at GMAC and Websense in the US, and IAG, CBA and Ray White in Australia.

In 2015 Peter founded XSCALE Alliance as “the Linux of the Agile world”. Gartner recognised XSCALE in its 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 market guides for Enterprise Agile Frameworks, and XSCALE coaches in a dozen world capitals are collaborating on it as an open learning ecosystem engaging banks, insurers, health and telco corporations.

Peter also has three decades in delivery programs. He played leading roles on the $9B CBA Mobile Channel “Kaching” product, Invensys “I/A Systems SCADA” which controls a third of the world’s oil infrastructure, and Telstra’s OMP grid which controlled Austalia’s international telco network for 2 decades. He authored patents in scheduling, e-currency, pattern recognition and social ratings, led multiple startups and open source projects including the original Wikipedia wiki engine.
