The Theme of the Opening Ceremony of the Agile20reflect Festival is “Ubuntu”

January 20, 2021 By Scott Seivwright

nelson Mandela as a n old man and a quote

Beautiful Humans!!

The festival is now 400 Events and still growing.. such a beautiful wellspring of knowledge from across all the continents. Well done – You are truly a Global Community!

We are pulling together the Agenda for the opening ceremony of The Agile20Reflect and we have chose the theme of Ubuntu….

In the next week we will explore Ubuntu and what Africa can teach the world about Human relationships. Our honoured first Nyansanii (wise person in Ghanan) will be the lovely Nana Bambara who will open our beautiful festival this year.

He defines the essence of Ubuntu as “The African Philosophy Ubuntu, a Bantu word, that defines what it means to be truly human. We affirm our humanity when we acknowledge that of others.” And we cannot think of a more fitting Human sentiment for opening up our global agile village in love, equality and connectedness.

I firmly believe that tThe Agile20Reflect festival is a true FESTIVAL of Humans celebrating our connectedness through each other!

I also like the idea of having the festival have a regional opening and this year we honour our brothers and sisters in Africa and welcome them to teach us more about being Agile Practitioners and our Humanness.

The Opening ceremony will have activities that bring us together and introduce us to new people from different experiences. The activities will be lead by different regions of the world. As we all work together to make something Beautiful! I wonder who will lead next year…

Scott Seivwright the Festival Chief Pirate!

Please share around the world!! (And please translate)

How to set up a free event for Agile20Reflect Festival in Feb 2021

December 25, 2020 By Karl Smith

Agile20Reflect Festival Event

The Festival Team would once again like to thank you for deciding to serve the Agile Community free of charge in Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the signing of the Agile Manifesto.

As this is a Festival and not a Conference, we wanted to ensure that you are aware of how events are created.

Ways to Set up Events

  • Setting up your own event and coordinating with our Ambassadors or Trustees to get Headline Speakers or Fresh Voices from the Volunteer Speakers Directory by 20th of Jan 2021
  • Setting up your own event and getting other speakers yourself by 20th of Jan 2021
  • Working with your Agile Organisation to set up your events. They need to be added to our calendar by 20th of Jan 2021

Volunteer Speakers Directory

The Speaker Directory has been set up so that our Ambassadors (Regional Hubs) can coordinate with Meeting Organisers, it is held securely and not available to the public because it contains contact details, the public view of it is here https://agile20reflect.org/take-part/setting-up-events/.

The directory is provided free of charge, please conduct your own due diligence on any speaker you wish to involve in your events as inclusion does not denote confirmation of capability.

Event Marketing

All events in our calendar will be shared across all our social media platforms to encourage the agile Community to participate.

Some Essential Resources

If you want to set up your own Event but need support, there is a regular support meetup on the Agile20Reflect Festival Meetup https://www.meetup.com/agile20reflect-meetup-group/

The Festival is based on 9 Principals that have been converted into images by Stuart Young and are very helpful in communications. We have created Co-Branding Guidelines to support professional organisations in the utilisation of our brand in their corporate materials. We also have 57 videos on our YouTube Channel including interviews with the creators of Kanban, Cynefin Framework, Scaled Agile, Distributed Agile, Lean Coffee among many others.

Practical Notes for Speakers in the Directory

If you no longer wish to be in the Speaker Directory please let us know and you will be removed.

When you have reached your capacity for speaking in February please let us know and you will be removed from the directory.

Agile20Reflect Festival Principle 7

December 25, 2020 By Karl Smith

Agile20Reflect Festival Principle stories to share new voices bring new ideas

Another great visualisation of our Principles – Volunteer Speaker Powered.

Volunteer Speaker Powered: We are actively seeking diversity of Agile and Agility Speakers at all levels (we value new ideas and new voices as much as more experienced ones) to register as Volunteer Speakers and that directory will only be available to the Ambassadors to help meetups and organizations across the globe

Thanks Stuart Young.

Agile20Reflect Festival Principle 6

December 25, 2020 By Karl Smith

Agile20Reflect Festival Principle community funding spreading the word ourselves and individuals

Another great visualisation of our Principles – Community Funded.

Community Funded: We will ask existing organisations, associations and businesses to lend their support. As this is distributed it is likely support will be about providing Access and Social Capital. Supporting organisations will help spread the message on the event and may help with financial support. (We are deliberately trying to limit the need for finance)

Thanks Stuart Young.
