“Crossing the river by feeling the stones” with Simon Wardley

February 23, 2021 By Anurag Shrivastava

Crossing the river by feeling the stones.

Synopsis : We live in a competitive world. That competition forces change. It has always forced change. Change is normal. The question is not whether our organisations will change, that’s a given, but can we see this change before it hits us, do we know where we’re heading or are we simply floating aimlessly being carried by a river? It certainly feels that way sometimes.

To answer the question we need to understand our landscape, the economic forces at play, the context we operate within and our situational awareness of this. Can we navigate the waters, can we see a storm coming or are we being battered by rocks because we refuse to look?

During this talk we will examine the level of situational awareness within business, why it matters and whether we can anticipate and exploit change before it hits us. We will explore how we can manage our economic environment by, as Deng Xiaoping would say, “crossing the river by feeling the stones”.

Speaker Bio
Simon is a former CEO, former advisory board member of startups (all now acquired by US Giants), a fellow of Open Europe, inventor of Wardley Mapping, a regular conference speaker and a researcher for the Leading Edge Forum. He uses mapping in his research for the LEF covering areas from Serverless to Nation State competition whilst also advising/teaching LEF clients on mapping, strategy, organisation and leadership.

Agile for Enterprise

February 20, 2021 By Anurag Shrivastava

Business agility is the ability of an organization to:

Adapt quickly to market changes – internally and externally

Respond rapidly and flexibly to customer demands

Adapt and lead change in a productive and cost-effective way without compromising quality

Continuously be at a competitive advantage

Business agility is concerned with the adoption of the evolution of values, behaviours and capabilities. These enable businesses and individuals to be more adaptive, creative and resilient when dealing with complexity, uncertainty and change leading to improved well-being and better outcomes.

Further an agile business is an organisation that embraces the agile philosophy and values at its core, from its people and culture, to its structure and technology. Consequently, an agile business is customer centric.

An agile business can respond quickly and effectively to opportunities and threats found in its internal and external environments (be they commercial, legal, technological, social, moral or political).

This webinar defines what is meant by business agility, agile business and why organizations today are pursuing Agile for enterprise.
