The New Scrum Guide and What the Changes Mean for Agile Practitioners

February 25 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm NZDT

Virtual Event

Due to Level 3 Restrictions in Auckland, we have decided to do this Meetup virtually next week. Thanks for your patience as we navigate our ever-changing landscape.

Welcome Agile Aucklanders to another exciting year of events! We kick-off 2021 with Edwin Dando from Scrum.org and Radically, who will take us through the changes to the Scrum Guide.

In November 2020 a new version of the Scrum Guide was released. The sixth revision of the Scrum guide aims to bring Scrum back to being a minimally sufficient framework by removing or softening prescriptive language. This continues the trajectory of the previous releases by stripping Scrum down to its simplest possible form.

The latest version moves the focus from “how” to more “why” – away from a recipe towards a set of principles. With Scrum forming the core of most agile thinking, the changes are simple but important.

Throughout his career, Edwin has worked with both Jeff Sutherland and Ken Schwaber, so not only has a deep understanding of Scrum, but also where it came from and why. During this talk, Edwin will step through the changes and discuss why they were made and will include discussion on what they might mean for you.
