Cleaning Up Your Questions

February 26, 2021 By Anurag Shrivastava

As agilists, we’ve gotten quite good at measuring what matters, break work down into bite-size chunks, and holding spaces of psychological safety. This is all well and good, but what about our language? How do we change teams through word choices and metaphors?

Enter Clean Language, a coaching and interviewing technique where we help teams develop their own symbols and metaphors, not imposing ours onto them. (In other words, it’s all about them, not us.) In this interactive session, Erin Randall walks us through what Clean Language is, demonstrates how we pollute others’ language and metaphors, and leads us through the practice of asking others clean, powerful questions.

Learning Outcomes
Identify what clean language is.
Learn how we pollute others’ metaphors and language.
Practice applying clean-language techniques in asking clean, powerful questions.

Biography
Erin is a longtime agile, coactive, and ORSC-trained coach with a deep passion for serving people, teams, and organizations. Through her work with her coaching and consulting practice, Ad Meliora Coaching, she helps her clients to transform the way that they work and how they accomplish more. Her goal in all that she does is simple: happy people doing great work.

Erin lives in Austin, Texas, and can often be found in bookstores, on hiking trails with her dogs, or at one of the Agile Coaching Circles (she’s one of the co-founders). Connect with her on LinkedIn or experience coaching for yourself by booking a session at www.admelioracoaching.com.

Agile Coaching agreement as creative partnership

February 25, 2021 By Anurag Shrivastava

As an Agile or Business Agility coach, have you ever struggled with managing expectations of your role in the organization? Has magic in any shape or form been implicitly included in your responsibilities or deliverables? Was it expected for you to be “agile” and re-adjust your role definition with each and every change of operational context?
Although there are many unpredictable and shaking turns on the journey of organizational growth and development, there is a way to help you stay grounded in your coaching intent. You can navigate a wide range of situations with more clarity and grace, while nurturing commitment to bring change and cultivate ownership of development by individual contributors, teams and leaders.
Nadezhda will bring personal experiences and tips from Professional Coaching world to help avoiding any hot mess in Agile coaching engagements. Let’s discuss how we can frame Agile coaching engagements as creative partnerships through the lens of professional coaching agreements.

The Art of Unlearning, A Choice for Successful Agile Transformation

February 23, 2021 By Anurag Shrivastava

It’s been 20 years of Agile Manifesto. It’s still impactful and relevant; however, many agile transformations aren’t getting the expected outcomes. Are you struggling to build high performing teams even when team members know Scrum and have been using it for a long time?
In this session, we will discuss unlearning and re-learning based on neuroplasticity, and how to use it in agile work environments.

Living Appreciatively Seeing the Positive in Life

February 11, 2021 By Wayne Hetherington

Living Appreciatively Seeing the Positive in Life Agile20Reflect Festival

Discover the delights of Appreciative Inquiry! Join Dr. Jill Greenbaum to explore a new lens for viewing all the parts of your world. Learn the five principles of AI and begin to apply them to your life—both work and personal—immediately. In this interactive session, be ready to engage with the work and play of seeing yourself, others, projects, and situations differently. We’ll also engage in visual storytelling with an appreciative eye. (No worries if you feel you have beginner drawing skills—this is more about the essence of your story.) You will walk away from our time together with a new model for experiencing the world and new skills that you can use every day!

Here’s a suggestion for what to have on hand: a black permanent-ink marker, some light/highlighter markers, and printer paper for note-making and perhaps a wee bit of drawing.

Jill is the US-based trainer for bikablo, the German system for graphic recording and visualization. For the past twenty years, Jill has grown her instructional design, speaking, and coaching firm. Her passion is integrating my academic skills with her desire for perpetual learning—from CoachU and Martin Seligman’s Authentic Happiness Coaching Program, Points of You, mindfulness, EFT, and nonviolent communication. She creates bespoke sessions for people in corporate, government, nonprofit, and education environments. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in child psychology and bilingual special education, respectively, and a doctorate in curriculum development from Teachers College, Columbia University.

This bonus session is hosted by Agile Austin Coaching Group as part of the Agile20Reflect Festival. It will be recorded and posted to YouTube upon completion. AgileAustin has the right to record any hosted event which includes, but is not limited to Special Interest Groups (SIGs), Monthly Meetings, Conferences, and special events. By registering for, or attending this hosted event, you are giving these groups consent to record and post recorded content containing your image, voice and name at a minimum, online. For remote events, you have the option to turn off your camera, mute your microphone and hide your name.
