Agile Speaker: Enjoying The Journey of Sharing Your Ideas And Stories

February 23, 2021 By Anurag Shrivastava

There are so many brilliant ideas, cases and stories out there that could inspire others, improve our way of working and living and eventually, changing the whole planet. Or simply something that has to be presented in a meeting/workshop/meetup…
Still, many of these messages might never be heard or well understood. Maybe because of fear, stress, anxiety, shyness, assumptions… (you name it). Maybe there is not enough confidence and/or experience. Or simply by not knowing how to get started.

How to pass your message in a clear, engaging and efficient way?
How to use the agile mindset to improve your presentation skills or simply getting started in case you’ve never tried it before?
What are the pitfalls, tips and tricks to continuously improve your presentations?

Public speaking/presenting is a skill like many others: at the beginning, it can be very hard, we might feel clumsy and the killer thought might cross our minds “I’m not cut out for this”. But with smart practice, feedback and continuous improvement, anyone can get very good at it!

Thus, if you’ve never done a presentation in public and want to do it or already have done it and simply want to sharpen your skills, this session is for you!
It will be a good mix of theory + practice + feedback, in a safe space where we all can grow and develop our skills set!
All you need to bring is your open mind, eagerness to learn, practice and also support others in their learning during this evening together.

Let’s enjoy the journey of sharing your ideas and stories! 🙂

Global Agile Community Clinic: The Enigma of Agile

February 18, 2021 By Anurag Shrivastava

“Learning is the engine of practice, and practice is the history of that learning.”―Étienne Wenger, Communities of Practice: Learning, Meaning, and Identity

Facilitators: Anne-Marie, Freya, and Haroon are Scrum masters and agile coaches passionate about agility and what it means to people working in highly complex and adaptive environments. They are members of global Agile, Scrum, and Kanban communities and also co-organise events based in the UK with global reach.

Working remotely has given all of us a lifeline to stay connected and not feel so lonely and share our experiences.

Purpose: This event will aim to create the space to share the value of creating agile communities of learning; encourage different perspectives to emerge; enable ways to challenge our views in a safe yet brave environment; experiment with new ideas; and help reflect together about the Agile manifesto and what it means to us going forward.

“They come together without hierarchy in order to learn about their area of focus.” ―Emily Webber

We want to embody the above quote from Emily Webber to sense check where we are and what we think the Agile manifesto in future may look like, given that it’s been 20 years+ since its inception. We will improvise with remote games and group exercises during the session to help make it fun and creative, and perhaps impromptu.

Target audience: Scrum masters, agile coaches, servant leaders, product owners, product managers, leadership, and anyone else.

Making the Old New: An Agile Mardi Gras Retrospective

February 16, 2021 By Anurag Shrivastava

Making the Old New: An Agile Mardi Gras Retrospective Agile20Reflect Festival

Celebrating bounty & abundance, reflecting on what is essential & what can be set aside.

We’re inviting you to let the good times roll down at the Agile Mardi Gras on February 16, 2021. Join us for a gathering of change-makers who are still uncovering newer and better ways of developing software (and more). This world-wide, online Mardi Gras will be a reflection on the next 20 years of the Agile Manifesto.

Whether you call it Shrove Tuesday, Pancake Tuesday, Carnevale, Fasching, Fasnacht, or the Mardi Gras, this day is marked by global celebrations linked to traditions originating in old Europe. Carnival has been continuously refined, reinterpreted and reimagined around the world—just like Agile. Taking inspiration from this, we want to focus on renewing our old individual and cultural Agile practices.

Our theme is Making the Old New. Please leave your nostalgia behind. Let’s make this Agile Mardi Gras a fun quest for new abundance, equity and inclusion—and better ways of developing software.

Carnival celebrations are known for costumes, masks, revelry and satire. This invites revellers to share their truth in safety. We’ll create and hold space for you to do the same. Dress up welcome! This gathering will be a lightly facilitated event that’s part Mardi Gras parade, part World Cafe, part Open Jam, and part Retrospective.

Why are so Many Agile Coaches Dyslexic? Come to the Party and Find out!!

February 6, 2021 By Scott Seivwright

Why are so many Agile Coaches Dyslexic?
What is it about Agile that helps Dyslexics Thrive!
What superpowers does Agile release!

When we all got together to decide to set up the Agile2oReflect festival we quickly found out that a sizeable number of agile enthusiasts were dyslexic. It was remarkable! Even within the Festivals Trustees there are 4 of us. So this is a call out to drop your Dyslexia shame and come and explore the superpowers that you have!

This an open event for Agile practitioners with Dyslexia to come and share their experiences.

This will have break out session where we will debate and visualise the common advantages and disadvantages of Dyslexia.

Come join the conversation and learn from others and release your super powers. Let us really support the discovery of the amazing benefits of Agility.

Bring a beverage (Sadly BYOB) and meet new friends.
