SUMMARY:Agile Cults and Religions… Don’t Join One - Alistair Cockburn Tony Christensen
DESCRIPTION:This meetup is dividend into two part: \nfirst we will hear from Tony Christensen how Agile can be analogised to religion. \nthen Alistair Cockburn will talk about how to simplify the agile world to just four imperatives by focusing on the Heart of Agile. \n  \nIn this talk “Agile Cults and Religions… Don’t Join One” Tony Christen discuss how Agile has become a beacon for people and organisations to guide the path to better ways of working. \nNow 20 years old\, and despite the intention of the 17 who came together to write the Manifesto\, Agile communities\, practitioners and thought leaders openly fight and argue about how to “do” Agile. \nThis is a precautionary tale where Agile can be analogised to religion\, where the values and principles are being forgotten and in their place rituals\, words and practices are followed and advocated blindly. \nBut don’t despair…. there is a happy ending. \n  \nAgile has become too complicated. Just listing all the vocabulary a new person needs to learn to simply follow a conversation puts people off learning it. \nAs agile moves into general work\, financial and HR departments\, government and social areas\, we need a simpler\, more generic\, more widely applicable\, easier to learn way to bring people in. \nSimplifying the agile world to just four imperatives does that:\nCollaborate\, Deliver\, Reflect\, Improve.\nNothing more. \nCollaborate to deliver\, deliver decisions to the world to get feedback from the world. Reflect on the feedback and improve both the collaboration and the delivery. \nThis is easy to explain\, straightforward to adopt\, and is serving well around the world in contexts of all varieties. \n– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – \nDr. Cockburn\, one of the creators of the Agile Manifesto (http://agilemanifesto.org/)\, was named on of the “The All-Time Top 150 i-Technology Heroes” for his pioneering work in agile software development and use cases. He is an expert on project management\, software engineering\, and agile development\, these days working in organizational behavior. \nIn 2015\, Dr. Cockburn created the “Heart of Agile” (http://heartofagile.com) to simplify the practice of agile development. His current focus is consulting\, training and broadcasting around the Heart of Agile construct. \nTony is a customer obsessed transformation elder. Acknowledged as a global thought leader and strategic thinker in the field of large scale corporate transformations and Lean start ups. He is a sought after executive leader and passionate\, pragmatic Agilista with 35 years experience in the Banking & Finance\, Telecommunications and Online industries. He has three decades of experience at Director level for global multi-nationals where he has built IT departments from the ground up and designed and successfully lead organisational transformation to survive the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution where the adoption of new and innovative ways of working is essential. Tony’s experiences are global across financial and telecommunications industries in the UK\, India\, France\, USA\, Japan\, Singapore\, China and Australia \nTony is recognized as a thought leader\, innovator\, consultant and conference speaker.
