Community Policy

Our Festival is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices.

We do not tolerate harassment within this Festival in any form. Sexual language and imagery are not appropriate in any Festival forums, including talks, workshops, parties, twitter and other online media.

Festival Volunteers, Ambassador, Advisors, Trustees and Patrons, violating these rules will be subject to a zero-tolerance procedure and an investigation of allegations. All allegations and responses will be minuted and actioned by the Ethics Committee made up of people with no prior connection to the people involved.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

3rd Parties (event organisers) are also subject to our Community Policy for inclusion in the Festival Calendar. They will publish their own anti-harassment policies. In particular, 3rd parties should not use sexualised images, activities, or other material. 3rd Parties should not use sexualised clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualised environment.

If a anyone engages in harassing behaviour, the organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the festival.

There is help by various security or local law enforcement agencies who will provide assistance or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the festival.
